542 companies from 20 industries can call themselves Innovator of the Year 2019. In the field of medical technology, 17 companies were honored, one of which was CorTec GmbH from Freiburg, which emerged from a GO-Bio grant and had already won the title in 2018.

"We are all the more delighted that brand eins and Statista have once again awarded us this prize because it reflects the consistency of the last few years in the development of our company," said Dr. Jörn Rickert, Chief Executive Officer of CorTec. "Following our move to new premises and the technical commissioning of the human version of our Brain Interchange System, we still see great potential for further boosting our innovative strength," adds Dr. Martin Schüttler, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Executive Officer of CorTec. With its Brain Interchange technology, CorTec is positioning itself as a partner for the development of innovative neurotherapies. The first partners are already using the closed-loop implant system for preclinical studies. The first human use of the system for researching novel and personalized therapies for diseases such as Parkinson's disease, chronic pain, stroke, etc. is expected to follow shortly.

Statista carried out an innovation survey for the fourth time in a row. The list of the most innovative companies in Germany in 2019 is based on three surveys of industry and innovation experts. In a supplementary meta-analysis, more than 50 different innovation prizes and competitions were reviewed.
