Project description

The task of the "PEG" project was to find a suitable way to uncover transfer potentials in the life sciences at the University of Tübingen, to utilize inventions and to support start-ups more efficiently and effectively. This task was to be accomplished through targeted change management and decentralization of these activities.  The goal was the introduction of a sustainable process for the development of innovation potentials in life science relevant departments of the University of Tübingen.

The project initiated a structured program to promote medical and health-related innovations. Based on the establishment of a MedTech Startup School as part of the "Additional Module Technology Transfer", additional institutions were established in Tübingen in 2014 to strengthen the Tübingen Eco-System (Foundation for Medical Innovations and Medical Innovations Incubator GmbH). This was further funded by the BMBF as part of the "Industrie-In-Klinik-Plattformen".

Today, the MedTech Startup School is organized by the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, the University Hospital Tübingen and the Foundation for Medical Innovations with financial support from the state of Baden-Württemberg. Since 2017, the MedTech Startup School has been part of the EU- and state-funded "Life Science Accelerators" of Baden-Württemberg, which is operated by the Tübingen partners in cooperation with the institutions in Heidelberg and Mannheim.
