Project description:

Despite the central importance of cellular interactions in (patho)physiological processes and action mechanisms of drugs, they are often not taken into account in diagnostic procedures and therapeutic decisions due to the lack of cost-effective and fully automated technologies.

The aim of the InterAcTec project is to use a newly developed technology platform to provide a comprehensive understanding of the immune status and interplay of interacting cells within a patient sample. The platform relies on the innovative combination of spectral flow cytometry and machine learning. The fast, cost-effective and automatable platform has the potential to be easily integrated into everyday clinical practice. It could additionally be used in a variety of ways, for example, as a precision diagnostic agent for cancer and autoimmune diseases, in decisions about cost-intensive immunotherapies or for the precision analysis of mRNA-based vaccines.

In the exploratory phase the chances of transferring the promising technology into practical application and thereby, ultimately, into commercial use are to be explored. For this purpose the market situation is being analysed, technical challenges are being defined and potential partners are being identified. As a result of the project, prioritised exploitation options are to be developed. An additional implementation strategy for market entry is to be designed.
