Norden Vaccines – 2018
The GO-Bio team, led by Michael Hust in Braunschweig, is targeting ticks specifically in its efforts to develop a vaccine. The goal is to create a vaccine suitable for widespread application to fight the main species of tick in Europe and North America.

NuTriPep – 2018
The need for food crops that are both protein rich and sustainable is increasing. The food industry is continuing to opt more and more for plant proteins, e.g. from peas or soya. The GO-Bio "NuTriPep" project aims to supply these emerging markets with premium peptide combinations with alternatives made from plant-based raw materials.
EpiBlock – 2018
Epilepsy is one of the most common chronic disorders of the central nervous system. The GO-Bio team led by Berlin-based virologist Regine Heilbronn and neurobiologist Christoph Schwarzer has developed a highly innovative molecular approach to focal epilepsy treatment.
RecTech – 2018
The Dresden-based team led by Frank Buchholz has developed a whole new kind of genome-editing technology that is superior to the current procedure in many ways: it is based on sequence-specific recombination (SSR).
Captain T Cell – 2018
The "Captain T-cell" GO-Bio project, led by molecular biologist Felix Lorenz, does not use a CAR module as tumour-specific receptor, instead opting for a cluster of receptors called classical T-cell receptors (TCR). The team hopes to use these to develop an effective T-cell therapy for untreatable blood cancer patients.
DEOXY Technologies – 2018
The Munich-based scientists, led by Johannes B. Woehrstein from the "DEOXY Technologies" GO-Bio team, have dedicated their work on cancer treatment. The team hope to establish a platform technology which builds on their own fluorescent nanoparticles, enabling genes from individual cells to be measured quickly and reliably in high-throughput sequences.
Aminolipin – 2018
Researchers led by Tübingen-based physician Bernhard Hirt have developed a formaldehyde-free replacement substance. After multiple screenings, they settled on aminolipine, a pyrrolidine derivative. It can be produced from naturalistic substances through chemical synthesis.
Nano Capture – 2018
The team, led by Petar Marinkovic, is working on methods to improve the efficacy of chemotherapy. The GO-Bio grant will be used to advance NanoCap-DLV, a product intended to enhance the delivery of approved nano-sized chemotherapeutics.
